For You Fridays
As promised, each Friday I will recommend a novel that you should read, here is this weeks pick by me.
The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
Every girl who had taken the test has died.
Now it's Kate's turn.
It's always been just Kate and her mom - and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerising. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld - and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy - until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.
If she fails...
This novel will be a great addition on your shelf if you love Greek mythology. The Goddess Test is loosely based on the story of Persephone and Hades. It is about a girl named Kate who has to complete seven tests in order to become ruler of the Underworld and wife to Hades, who will perish if he doesn't find a partner to rule with soon. Aimee's writing is smooth and magical and pulls this novel along at the right pace. If you're searching for light, mythical and romantic read, this is the perfect book. Sequels are also available; Goddess Interrupted and The Goddess Inheritance. Enjoy.
