Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - Book Briefing and Mini Review
A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.
I finished this book just this morning and I enjoyed every bit. It wasn't what I was expecting at first but it was even better. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar had such a unique story line and the addition of the vintage photos made the story and characters all the more real. The photos also added to the experience of reading the novel. I loved Ransom Riggs' style of writing too; so descriptive and fluid. The pace of the novel was also perfect and each character was wonderfully written and unique
This book has a mysterious and adventurous vibe that I really enjoyed. I don't often read many books with an adventure genre and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children has opened my eyes and made me want to explore the genre further. Also, there was a little sprinkle of romance in the book that made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I love a good book that makes me smile. Reading through the main character, Jacob Portman's, point of view was a great aspect of the story too and I liked watching him figure out the mystery of the peculiar children and also figure out who he was.
I can't wait to get onto Hollow City, I would definitely recommend this.
